Is Charlotte experiencing too much of a good thing with all the new Bakeries in Town? According to the Charlotte Business Journal we were named one of the Bakery Capitals in the Country.
Charlotte is also one of the fastest growing cities in the Country and with growth comes new opportunities. When we opened 5 years ago on South Blvd. we were the new kids on the block. Sure there were staples like Polka Dot Bake Shop and Suarez Bakery who has the best Apple Fritters in Town and Cuban Bread. I love Cuban Bread. We weren't in the best location and often overlooked by our neighborhood. But, we did survive and prosper by thinking outside the box. A Bakery that was opened on Mondays breaking the Holy Bakery sacrament? We honestly didn't know that one existed, honestly. A Bakery that offered Delivery thru out the Region? Believe me, Clover, SC looks closer than it really is. And a Bakery that stayed open till Midnight? Yes, were guilty of that too. Sometimes in business you have to make your own opportunities. There were sacrifices along the way and eventually we left a crowded market; three new Bakeries opened from Scaleybark Road to East Blvd. within a few years after we opened. So we found a new home in North Charlotte that's ironically, starting to look a little familiar lately. Will the market for Bakeries in Charlotte began to mirror the growth of the Brewery Scene. What will make these new Shops stand out for a new generation? Tell us, what do Charlottean's old and new want in a Bakery?
